Every Nick Robinson Movie Ranked From Worst To Best
4. Being Charlie
With Robinson in the titular role, the Rob Reiner-helmed Being Charlie centers on a wayward teenager whose struggles with drugs result in his parents forcing him into an adult rehab program.
Released in 2016, the film got a hard time from critics for falling victim to a number of cliches as it went on, and while it does give in to one or two, to write it off for that alone would be to unfairly dismiss the sheer quality of the story it told.
The characterisation of Charlie and his subsequent struggles (both internal and external) comes off as very authentic, paving the way for a highly engaging arc that manages to keep you invested in spite of his rebellious nature. The script contains some absolutely cracking exchanges that heighten the emotion throughout and the cast - particularly Cary Elwes as Charlie's emotionally-conflicted politician father - is superb.
Without a doubt, Robinson's most underappreciated film, Being Charlie allows him to deliver some of the finest material of his career and, quite frankly, it deserves a lot more love because of it.
