Every Philip Seymour Hoffman Movie Ranked Worst To Best

27. Gust Avrakotos - Charlie Wilson's War (2007)

Phillip Seymour Hoffman Doubt
Universal Pictures

Charlie Wilson's War isn't quite as effective as it should have been, given its terrific cast and daring political themes, but it at least benefits from one of Hoffman's most explosive performances as bohemian CIA operative Gust Avrakotos.

Hoffman was nominated for an Oscar for his performance here, and between his brutal monolgues and constantly intimidating presence, it's easy to see why. Hoffman has always carried with him an air of unpredictability, and as Gust he lets it all go and offers up a performance for the ages.
