Every Pixar Hero Ranked From Worst To Best

8. Bob & Helen Parr (The Incredibles 1 & 2)

Bob and Helen Parr (Craig T. Nelson and Holly Hunter) are such inseparable characters - despite being richly fleshed-out in their own rights - that it just felt wrong to separate them here.

The first Incredibles firmly positions Bob Parr aka Mr. Incredible as its protagonist and director Brad Bird has great fun cross-pollinating superhero movie tropes with the existential ennui of a family dramedy.

Despite his superheroic abilities, Bob is forced into a life of dull, suburban quietude, as proves understandably soul-crushing for such an innately extraordinary human being. Bolstered by Craig T. Nelson's superb voice work, he's about as relatable as superheroes get.

Incredibles 2 passed the baton to Bob's wife Helen aka Elastigirl, then, whose arc throughout the two movies is defined by her struggles to juggle motherhood with heroism.

Soulfully performed by Holly Hunter, Elastigirl is also an incredibly easy character to root for, busting down the patriarchal glass ceiling and proving that, with some effort, you really can have it all.

Together, they're the foundations of one of the greatest family units in all of animation.
