Every Pixar Movie Ranked From Worst To Best

15. Cars

Cars might be the single most underrated Pixar film - its modest reviews at the time of release represented the studio's first critical wobble, even if most still contended that it was a fun, handsomely animated effort.

While it's fair to say that Cars isn't massively sophisticated, it does boast some of the richest and most intriguing world-building of any Pixar movie, even as the studio remains officially vague about precisely what happened to all of the world's humans.

Radiator Springs makes for one hell of a backdrop, and while the cast of characters aren't among Pixar's greatest or most memorable, Owen Wilson does a bang-up job bringing peppy life to Lightning McQueen.

Easy though it is to view the entire Cars franchise through a cynical lens given that the wider merchandising empire generated $10 billion in revenue within five years of the first film's release, there's a real creative spark and beating heart at the core of the original story.
