2. Toy Story 3 (2010)
It might be controversial to put Toy Story 3 above all the other films in the franchise, but as it stands Woody, Buzz and the gang's third adventure is unquestionably their most thrilling and emotionally powerful.
From the surprisingly effective villain of Lots-O'-Huggin' Bear, the tense Great Escape-inspired plot and that third act sequence where it looks as though the toys are doomed to the dump's incinerator, Toy Story 3 has all the thrills, gasps and teary-eyed drama of the previous films, only everything's been dialled up to eleven and the stakes are higher than ever.
Also, Toy Story 3 has the best finale of any of the four films, reminding fans that, at their core, what these films are about is growing up, moving on and the inevitability of childhood being left behind.
That final shot of Andy driving away, leaving his toys to a new owner and a whole new chapter? It doesn't get much better than that.
