12. Charles Muntz (Up)
It's often said that Up simply can't live up to the brilliance of its unforgettable opening 10 minutes, and that extends somewhat to its villain Charles Muntz (Christopher Plummer), who while a solid baddie doesn't really do much outside the box.
Muntz is an intrepid explorer who grew bitter and vengeful after the scientific community incorrectly wrote him off as a fraud, and whose many years seeking out the giant flightless bird to restore his reputation have driven him murderously insane.
Muntz's single-minded commitment to taking custody of the bird, Kevin, dead or alive, is certainly horrifying - he even murders tourists he thinks are also after the bird - yet he's ultimately probably the least-interesting character in Up's fantastic ensemble.
That's more a testament to how wonderful characters like Carl (Ed Asner), Russell (Jordan Nagai), and Dug (Bob Peterson) actually are, as Muntz is still brought to vivid life by Christopher Plummer's typically evocative vocal performance.
