18. AUTO (WALL-E)
WALL-E's villain AUTO is the autopilot for the Axiom, one of the many starships used to house Earth's increasingly bloated residents while robots clean the planet up.
Ultimately it's hard to hate AUTO too much given that it's simply following a pre-programmed directive to never return the Axiom to Earth - an erroneous directive, admittedly - but that doesn't mean the harm it causes shouldn't be discounted.
Beyond keeping humans away from Earth, it almost destroys WALL-E, and attempts to keep knowledge of the crucial, world-saving plant concealed from humanity.
As a neon-signposted homage to HAL 9000 from 2001: A Space Odyssey, AUTO is an inherently amusing villain, yet through its coldness certainly one of the movie's less-interesting robot characters.
