Every R-Rated Marvel Movie Ranked From Worst To Best

1. Logan

After Deadpool's success, the newly R-Rated Logan had a lot riding on it, not least because it was Hugh Jackman's last go at the character (Deadpool 2 cameo aside). On top of that it needed to give this Wolverine a good ending, retire Professor X in a satisfying way and be different enough to the mainline X-Men movies to justify its existence.

It did all of that and a lot more. As devastating as it is exhilarating, it packs in heavy-hitting punches and gives us the claws-out Wolverine we all deserved but weren't quite able to see thanks to the X-Men's commitment to family-friendly material.

It's basically a Western with an old gunslinger taking his last steps and honourably protecting a young charge and it positively drips drama and pathos in a way most comic book movies struggle to. And by God does it earn its R-Rating.
