Every Ridley Scott Movie Ranked Worst To Best

18. Body Of Lies (2008)

Body of Lies is a middling but overall exciting action caper, in which CIA officer Roger Ferris (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his boss (Russell Crowe) race against the clock to hunt down an elusive terrorist in the Middle East.

The narrative framework offers nothing new to the genre, and there are times when the film's predictability threatens to leave audiences bored and unengaged. That said, its acute assessment of modern western culture's relationship with the Middle East is quite affecting, and DiCaprio acts his heart out in one of his most subtly intense roles.

As a whole, though, Body of Lies is the kind of movie tripped up by its lack of originality and painfully obvious genre cliches, and even its strongest moments will leave you wondering why Ridley Scott keeps directing films with so little imagination, given his superb career beginnings.
