Saw III
Lionsgate

After a seven-year break following Saw 3D, the series was resurrected in 2017 with Jigsaw.

Despite being dead for nearly a decade, the main selling point of this eighth entry in the franchise was the tease that John Kramer was somehow back in action. As a new string of murders very much mimic the ways of the Jigsaw Killer, could Kramer somehow still be alive and up to his old tricks?

The answer, is no.

Of course, this was once again another example of a Jigsaw apprentice - this time Logan Nelson, revealed as the very first apprentice - immitating the ways of their mentor.

It was showcased how Logan incorrectly labelled Kramer's initial X-rays years ago, which caused John's cancer to go unnoticed until things were too late. However, despite then placing Logan in a barn-set 'game' with certain others, Kramer let the fella go free due to how Logan made a simple mistake in his X-ray analysis, rather than this being a malicious act. In the present, Logan recreates this barn game with criminals who'd been allowed to go free by the corrupt Detective Halloran.

Jigsaw (the movie) has a few decent kills, but this is one of those films merely made for the sake of making another Saw movie. As such, we got another Jigsaw apprentice just because...
