Every Saw Trap Ranked From Worst To Best

30. Spiral - The Finger Trap

saw 2004
Lionsgate

Trap: Detective Fitch (Richard Zeppieri), who'd shot an unarmed suspect some years earlier, was in a bathtub and he had to activate a device (by biting down on the mouth-piece in his mask) that would pull all of his fingers off but allow him to escape. If he stayed put, he would be electrocuted to death.

This one isn't original enough to be an all-timer and it suffers from some jarring non-linear editing - the trap is introduced, but then it's only shown in a flashback after the body is discovered - but this is still a good trap overall.

It's fittingly painful thanks to a chilling concept and some really nasty gore effects, and the timely social commentary and tense scenario raise it up further.
