This is Spiral's best trap. It's a seriously disturbing one - having to choose between severing your spine or dying is one of the most horrific choices a Saw victim has ever faced - and it's all made even worse by the fact that one of the film's best characters is the victim.

Speaking of which, the revelation that Angie Garza is, in fact, a corrupt cop was also a nastily effective twist and come to think of it, a hundred times better than the painfully obvious twist regarding who the killer was.
