Every Saw Trap Ranked From Worst To Best

51. Saw III - Shotgun Collar

saw 2004
Lionsgate

Trap: Dr Lynn Denlon (Bahar Soomekh) was kidnapped by Amanda Young (Shawnee Smith) and was instructed to keep the ill Jigsaw (Tobin Bell) alive. This explosive collar around her neck would detonate if he died, since it was linked to his heart-rate monitor. Unknown to Lynn, Jigsaw was putting her husband Jeff (Angus Macfadyen) through a game at the same time.

The Shotgun Collar was a good idea for a trap and it was fine for the bulk of its screen-time. Unfortunately, the overly downbeat and mean-spirited ending- in his final test, Jeff failed to forgive Jigsaw, killed him and thus unintentionally killed his wife too - ruined everything, since it didn't feel earned at all (largely thanks to the film's generally sloppy storytelling).

Still, the gore was as impressively done as ever.
