Every Single MCU Film Ranked From Worst To Best

5. Spider-Man: Homecoming

Spider-Man: Homecoming had the potential to cause Marvel a lot of heart problems. Not only did it have the usual burdens associated with kick-starting a new property in the established MCU, but it also came with the huge caveat that whatever they achieved had to also be measured against the deal they cut with Sony. There would always be that question of whether it had all been worth the negotiations.

Luckily, the film is both an exceptional MCU movie and the perfect answer to any cynicism. It's not as good as Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 2 (though, actually no Marvel film is), but it's definitely up there in the top 3 Spider-Man movies (including the exceptional cameo in Civil War).

Building on that first appearance, Homecoming goes hard on Tom Holland's excellent, enormously charming performance, adds a great villain with complexity in Michael Keaton's Vulture and offers the best Spider-Man of any film. And incredibly, it didn't even try and lean heavily on Robert Downey Jr's role, which ended up being no more than an extended cameo.
