Every Single MCU Film Ranked From Worst To Best

10. Doctor Strange (2016)

It may have taken way too long to happen, but Kevin Feige was finally able to open the doors on the Cosmic MCU in stunning fashion with the belated origin story for Doctor Strange. And if anything, it helped that the film was delayed so that it could find its perfect fitting director in the shape of horror maestro Scott Derrickson. Oh, and its perfect star in Benedict Cumberbatch, who almost missed the gig thanks to Sherlock's schedule.

As it always should have, Doctor Strange feels like a technology-stretching movie, which comes with unprecedented effects (at least for the MCU - those folding landscapes scream Inception) and is so transformative that it feels like it opens up far more opportunities in the MCU than any other film to date.

Cumberbatch is typically excellent - slightly aloof, brilliant geniuses are his wheelhouse after all - and he has a very capable supporting cast, even if some of them are more unfairly underused than others. The villains lack something, but the casting of Mads Mikkelsen is a genius move because he's so effortlessly menacing that it almost doesn't matter that he has little to do.

That Dormammu scene left a lot to be desired, though, but the rest is a great start for Strange and for the Cosmic MCU. More please.
