Every Spider-Man Movie Ranked Worst To Best
8. Spider-Man 3 (2007)
Speaking of disappointments, much like The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3 was such a let-down for those of us who eagerly flocked to cinemas expecting to see something as good as Raimi's previous two Tobey Maguire-starrers.
While the prospect of Venom was a highly intriguing one, Topher Grace's Eddie Brock just fell flat. Throw in the convoluted 'tragic villain' tale of Thomas Haden Church's Sandman - driven to crime to help his sick daughter, accidentally killing Uncle Ben - and a Harry Osborn turn from James Franco that was far too sneering, and the end result was a mess.
Of course, that's without even getting to Emo Parker and the love triangle involving Peter, Mary Jane and Gwen Stacy.
From the heights of its two predecessors, to this - the fall from grace, no pun intended, was remarkable.
