Every Spike Lee Movie Ranked Worst To Best

11. BlacKkKlansman (2018)

Do The Right Thing
Focus Features

Arguably the biggest crowd-pleaser in Lee's back catalogue, BlacKkKlansman tells the incredible true story of two Colorado police officers (played by John David Washington and Adam Driver) who infiltrated their local Ku Klux Klan chapter in the 1970s.

Frequently funny and wonderfully acted by its key stars, the dark comedy-drama serves as a raging indictment of America's racist and unjust history, and finds Lee at his most angry, creative, uncaged and enjoyable...even if some of that joy is tinged by the film's troubling and still-relevant message.

BlacKkKlansman scored Lee his first Oscar nomination for directing (like Scorsese, he was left out for years until the Academy realised the error of their ways), and between its delightful irony, consistently entertaining subplots and a particularly astounding lead turn from Adam Driver, it's no wonder it's one of Lee's most celebrated films to date.
