Every Spike Lee Movie Ranked Worst To Best

16. Get On The Bus (1996)

Do The Right Thing
Sony Pictures Releasing

A surprisingly simple film when compared to Lee's best works, Get On The Bus follows a group of African-American men (including Charles S. Dutton, Andre Braugher and Bernie Mac) as they travel to take part in the 1995 Million Man March in Washington DC.

There's nothing extravagant about the drama, which watches like a televised play and simply lets the various characters talk amongst themselves, but the emotional power its wrings from its stars makes for a great achievement.

Sure, the conclusions the vastly different men draw about life and each other are a touch on-the-nose, but with its moving central performances, historically significant story and affecting dialogue, Get On the Bus is still a great little movie with plenty of strong, teachable moments.
