Every Star Wars Lightsaber Duel Ranked From Worst To Best

This was it. The all-out, battle-royale that the entire Prequel Trilogy had been building too. As far back as 1977 (!), George Lucas had been teasing how Darth Vader had lost a duel to Obi-Wan on a volcanic planet, and how we would eventually see it, some day.

Well in 2005, some day finally came, and it was glorious. Obi-Wan and Anakin's duel on Mustafar is the pinnacle of what the Prequels had to offer, delivering one of the most intense battles of the entire saga. Lucas even brought longtime friend, Steven Spielberg in to assist with the sequence's pre-visualization, to ensure he was giving audiences the best battle he possibly could.

The end result is a battle between brothers that is filled with pathos and passion. After seeing these two grow together over the course of a trilogy, their doomed fate finally comes to pass, and has Obi-Wan stands atop the 'high ground' shouting "I loved you", it truly feels monumental.

And I think we all know, it didn't end so well for poor little Ani.
