Every Star Wars Lightsaber Duel Ranked From Worst To Best

When Rian Johnson delivers a duel, he delivers a duel.

Filmed in an entirely stunning fashion, as if the samurai films of old have come alive once more, Last Jedi's battle sees Rey and Kylo Ren teaming up for a brief moment in time, as they take on Snoke's twelve Praetorian Guards together.

This entire sequence is essentially just different action beats all mashed together, and it is wonderful. From Rey dropping the lightsaber only to grab it with her other hand, to Kylo quickly activating and deactivating the saber through one's head, this is adding to the visceral vocabulary of the Star Wars duel in new and exciting ways.

This fight also gets special mention for starting with quite possibly the greatest thing ever, which is the golden-robed, and blinded by his own theatrics, Snoke, getting sliced in half.
