Every Star Wars Lightsaber Duel Ranked From Worst To Best

Before we begin, no, Mace Windu and Co. is not just an awesome potential band name, and yes, I know the three other Jedi who accompany him in this scene have names. It's just that if you can't last more than ten seconds in the duel itself, you don't deserve to be name checked.

Darth Sidious quickly and effectively dispatches of these three Jedi, and is left to face Mace Windu alone in his chambers. This duel gets special mention for two things: first off, it's our first time seeing Darth Sidious use a lightsaber, and second off, it's our only time getting to see Samuel L. Jackson really cut loose and deliver.

The resulting sequence is chock-full of that trademark intensity that just emanates from Jackson, and Lucas is clever enough to really incorporate that into the duel.

By the time the fight ends, Sidious has been hideously deformed into The Emperor we all know and love, Mace has lost an arm and been thrown out a window, and Anakin Skywalker has made an unexpected cameo to kill his first (but certainly not last) Jedi. Great.
