Every Stephen King Movie Ranked Worst To Best

31. Pet Sematary (1989)

Stephen King Movies Ranked

Stephen King considers "Pet Sematary" the scariest novel he ever wrote (he was so disturbed by his creation he almost threw it away entirely), and it's hard to disagree: This story of a family who suffers great tragedy and encounters a cemetery with the ability to bring the dead back to life - at a cost - is a bruising one.

Unfortunately, this adaptation from director Mary Lambert lacks the book's philosophical bent, injecting the tale with an increased focus on action and horror beats too farcical to land. That said, some images will linger thanks to Dave Anderson's gnarly practical effects work, as well as the film's nasty final twist.

Aidan Whatman hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
