21. Let Them All Talk (2020)
In Let Them All Talk, Meryl Streep stars as an ill author who travels to the UK on the Queen Mary II ocean liner and uses the journey to reconnect with old friends (Dianne Wiest, Candice Bergen) and her nephew (Lucas Hedges).
The HBO Max drama was shot entirely on the actual Queen Mary liner, with a very small crew that saw Soderbergh taking on the role of director, cinematographer and editor.
Made then with a tight budget as well as a nonexistent script, Let Them All Talk never feels as cohesive as it should. Sure, the cast shine, and Soderbergh wrings some strong imagery out of his set, but that's never quite enough.
The plot is thin and never amounts to much, particularly when it concludes with a misfire of a final twist, but the performances of the core cast are enough to make it watchable and occasionally moving.
