Every Steven Soderbergh Movie Ranked Worst To Best
6. Magic Mike (2012)
Soderbergh's decision to make a film out of Channing Tatum's pre-Hollywood life as a stripper was, at the time, an interesting career move, but one that nonetheless proved to be a stroke a genius.
Glamorous, frequently funny and moving in equal measure, Magic Mike stars Tatum as Mike, a stripper who dreams of bigger things, despite the greedy, power-mad presence of his boss Dallas (Matthew McConaughey).
One of the biggest box office successes of Soderbergh's career, Magic Mike is often unfairly remembered as a film bursting with half-naked heartthrobs, but as anyone who's seen it will tell you, it's a lot more than meets the eye.
Magic Mike is a tale of moving on, chasing dreams and getting by, and behind the sex appeal and iconic dance routines, it's a very uplifting and powerfully performed character piece, particularly for a never-better Tatum and McConaughey.
