Every Steven Soderbergh Movie Ranked Worst To Best
7. Erin Brokovich (2000)
The unlikely true story of an unemployed single mother who fought an energy company who had contaminated the water around California with deadly chemicals, Erin Brockovich remains one of Soderbergh's most memorable and powerfully character-driven movies.
Brockovich is played in the film by an Oscar-winning Julia Roberts, who gives the performance of her life as a woman fighting a corrupt system whilst trying to keep her family together.
There are, admittedly, some thin characters scattered around the movie who threaten to ruin the momentum of the story (particularly Aaron Eckhart's so-so biker boyfriend), but between Roberts' searing portrayal and Soderbergh's spotless handling of a somewhat predictable narrative, Erin Brockovich makes for one of the most intense and uplifting films of the director's career.
