3. Bad Wolf Down

Cornered by Nazis, a platoon of American soldiers are forced to take refuge in an abandoned police station. Locked up in one of its cells is a French civilian woman with yellow eyes. Strangely, the keys to the cell are inside with her – and there are large, bloody paw prints on the floor. It appears that she has locked herself up for good reason. With the enemy closing in, perhaps the woman’s mysterious affliction can be used to the soldiers' advantage.

This story clearly takes inspiration from Neil Marshall’s Dog Soldiers (2002); although admittedly it's not as good, this is a damn entertaining segment and a clever reversal of that film's premise. Horror lovers will notice and appreciate the nods to classic werewolf movies in the characters' names: Quist (The Howling), Kessler (An American Werewolf in London), Rivers (I Was a Teenage Werewolf), and Talby (in reference to Lawrence Talbot from The Wolf Man). The practical werewolf effects and transformation scene are good enough, although with the team involved fans might've hoped for a more creative and unique spin. The effect is borrowed heavily from The Howling (not a bad thing), but the comic book panels really add something to the transformation sequence.

Of course, it goes without saying that Jeffrey Combs' gloriously over-the-top performance as a vengeful Nazi general is the segment's highlight. Let's face it - he's the best part of every project he's in.
