Every Studio Ghibli Movie Ranked Worst To Best
19. The Secret World Of Arrietty (2010)
The Secret World of Arietty is a universally accessible fairytale about tiny lovable people living undetected within society, and for the most part ably soars with its vivid worldbuilding and graceful animation.
Based on Mary Norton's children's book The Borrowers, the fantasy film is both gracious and sweet, even if there are times where the story of unlikely friendship feels a touch thin on the ground compared to other Ghibli fables.
The movie's greatest strength easily overshadows its brief flaws, with its gorgeous, colourful animation turning every frame of the story into a beautiful explosion of light and wonder.
This visual beauty is slightly tripped up by the simplistic story it brings to life, but the animation alone keeps Arietty very far from failure.
