Every Movie Trailer From Super Bowl 50 Ranked From Worst To Best

12. Alice Through The Looking Glass

Oh for f*cks sake. There is not a single movie in 2016 I could give less of a flying f*ck about than Alice Through The Looking Glass. The first movie was one of Tim Burton's messiest (Alice is now a "Chosen One") and this one only seems to exist because Johnny Depp assumed Black Mass would make him legitimate again. Heck, the plot even appears to be about trying to save Depp from going crazy by taking him to the even more crazy Sacha Baron Cohen, something that is so close to being a knowing meta-narrative you just know they'll mess it up. As I needed more of a reason to hate this trailer, I really don't like the reposition of Alan Rickman as a key selling point for the movie. His Caterpillar provides the voice-over for the trailer and, apt as it may be to summarising the plot, you can't escape how it feels more than a little opportunistic. What I will give the trailer credit for is some well-intentioned editing. Time himself is the villain of the movie and in addition to lots of ticking and chimes on the soundtrack, the whole thing is structured around a hoard of clocks. It's just a shame what it cuts between looks so utterly uninspiring. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sjUAQrCcSYE
