Largely living down to the expectations of a Turtles movie produced by Michael Bay and directed by the guy behind Wrath of the Titans, 2014's TMNT reboot boasts occasionally entertaining action, but mostly succumbs to its unsettling character designs, inappropriate humour (Mikey spends half the movie trying to bang Megan Fox's April O'Neil), awful product placement and terrible villain.

It's a shame, because there was clearly potential here for a solid modern retooling of this franchise, but with Michael Bay's desire to relentlessly pander to hormonal teens above all else, the end result was always going to be a weirdly puerile mess. The mountain chase sequence is terrific, but the rest of the movie is a clumsy misfire.
