Every Superhero Movie This Decade Ranked - Worst To Best

42. The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)

The Amazing Spider-Man is one of the most baffling superhero movies ever made, if only because it ill-advisedly decided to fully reboot the franchise just a decade after it first began.

Rather than merely press on with Andrew Garfield's new web-slinger, the movie spends its first half needlessly retelling Peter Parker's origin story, and therefore taking far too long to get Parker in the iconic Spidey suit.

Martin Sheen and Sally Field provide solid support as Uncle Ben and Aunt May, but The Lizard is a bit of a dud baddie, and though Garfield did fine work as Parker, the movie never rises above being generically passable. A peculiar exercise in rehashing the past, and one that really shouldn't even exist.
