Every Tom Cruise Movie Ranked From Worst To Best

20. The Outsiders (1983)

Tom Cruise Interview With The Vampire
Warner Bros.

The cast of Francis Ford Coppola's coming-of-age drama The Outsiders is almost impossible to fully comprehend. Tom Cruise, Patrick Swayze, Rob Lowe, Emilio Estevez, Ralph Macchio and Matt Dillon all get in on the action, and work off one another to create a beautifully atmospheric and emotionally rewarding tale of teenage woes and class warfare.

Cruise's role is small compared to his more compelling co-stars (particularly Swayze), but he adds a strong dose of raw emotion to proceedings all the same. Like almost all his films from 1983, The Outsiders showed an actor already poised to run away from his peers.
