The House:

You follow in the footsteps of the Ghostbusters as they tackle a vengeful spirit named Garraka. After being released from an old relic, Garraka and his army of ghosts are set to bring about the next Ice Age. Will the Ghostbusters be able to stop New York from freezing over or will you find this house to chilling?

The Verdict:

I have to confess that I didn't enjoy the latest Ghostbusters movie so when compiling a Hype List, this house fell into 9th place. Yet experiencing this house was everything I loved about the Ghostbuster franchise as a whole.

The house was extremely fun, it had moments that genuinely made me jump and HUGE sets. In fact this Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire contains the tallest set ever constructed for HHN. Seeing the firehouse was a stop and stare moment for not just me but everyone else. Queues were beginning to back up as everyone had to stop and stare at Hook & Ladder 8.

The Garrakas within the maze were huge, towering above us fans. All your favourite characters were there and the house was filled with the mischievous mini pufts. The house also had nods to the other movies in the franchise including Vigo and the librarian ghost. There was even the gooey pink slime from the sewers.

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire is everything we could want in an IP house at HHN. It brought the movie to life and we were truly immersed inside the world of the Ghostbusters. This wasn't the scariest house of the night, but it wasn't without its frights.

Fans of the Ghostbusters franchise will fall in love with house and we wish we could experience it all over again to come face to face with Slimer all over again.

Final Thoughts...

Despite saying this after every one of Universal's Halloween Horror Nights, this year was one of the hardest we've ever had to rank.

Goblin's Feast came in at number six in this list, yet upon experiencing it on the night I was convinced that it would rank in the top three. There's rarely a house at HHN that we've walked through and didn't think was good. This year EVERY house was excellent.

Universal pride themselves on making houses that every guest will enjoy. What makes something scary is subjective so Universal makes sure they cover every fear. HHN33 doesn't have a house that was some sort of after-thought. Even the house we've placed at the bottom of this list is extremely detailed filled with great characters. Each house has been created with love and it shows.

Not everyone will agree with these rankings, and that's good because it shows that the Creative Team behind HHN have done an excellent job for this year.
