30. Peter Pan

Status: Announced.

Obviously, there have already been several live action takes on the Peter Pan legend, and now Disney is doing another, to be written and directed by Pete's Dragon's David Lowery, who did well with that remake.

It's said to be a straight adaptation of the original animation, rather than another diversion like the awful Pan from 2015. Hopefully, this might also revive some interest in Hook, which gets way, way too much hate considering how much fun it is.

29. Mary Poppins Returns

Release Date: 25th December, 2018

Status: Filming now.

Bucking the remake trend, Mary Poppins Returns is a sequel, picking up the story of the Banks some years down the line with Michael and Jane grown up and drawn back to their family home by tragedy. So expect a pretty glum opening.

The best thing about it is the cast: Emily Blunt will make an excellent Poppins (even if she has massive boots to fill), and Lin Manuel Miranda (who will also write new songs) is a genius choice to replace Dick Van Dyke's role. And then there's Ben Whishaw and Emily Mortimer as the Banks, Colin Firth, Angela Lansbury, Julie Walters, Meryl Streep and Van Dyke himself to throw into the mix.

It should certainly be a charmer.
