Every Will Smith Movie Ranked Worst To Best

9. Concussion (2015)

King Richard
Columbia Pictures

Almost securing Smith a long-overdue third Oscar nomination after years of bad luck at the Academy, Concussion didn't end up resonating with voters, even if it features one of his finest late-career performances.

Playing a Nigerian doctor Bennet Omalu, who helped raise awareness for the brain injuries that harm NFL players, Smith turns in a performance that's both subtle and quietly tragic, putting his star power aside to remind audiences he's a great dramatic actor.

The rest of the film makes for a fairly standard sport biopic, but with Smith at the wheel it packs one hell of a mean punch.

Aidan Whatman hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
