Every Will Smith Movie Ranked Worst To Best

5. Six Degrees Of Separation (1993)

King Richard
MGM

Will Smith made it clear with Six Degrees of Separation that he wasn't just the kid from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. With the right material, he could be a capital-A actor with tons of award potential and plenty of surprises up his sleeve.

In this searing drama about a conman who convinces a wealthy couple he's the son of Sidney Poitier, Smith plays an antagonist who manipulates and damages people for his own gratification, but ends up being his own undoing.

Rarely has Smith ever challenged himself like this, finding a compelling balance between being endearing and almost scary with impressive ease and endless wit. The film is dark, funny, menacing and strange, and Smith sells it from the first frame to the last.
