Every Year In The MCU Ranked Worst To Best

In terms of the MCU, the year of 2008 was something of a tale of two halves in that the two movies released couldn’t be further apart in how they are viewed by fans all these years later. One is still one of the highest rated entries in the franchise, the other is The Incredible Hulk.

Though there are worse movies, this is widely regarded as the black sheep of the MCU. Edward Norton was replaced by Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner, no other character returned to the franchise until 2016, and it was more than a little forgettable. However, on the other end of the spectrum is Iron Man.

The debut of Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, and of the MCU on the whole was a massive hit for Marvel Studios, and without its success the franchise would never have grown to what it is today. Kevin Feige and co. took a huge risk bringing on board RDJ, but it turned out to be one of the best decisions they ever made.

As far as calendar years go in the MCU, none quite epitomise the phrase ‘mixed bag’ like 2008. Marvel Studios gave the world the one movie it has tried desperately to forget, as well as the one that without which it never would have gotten off the ground.
