Evil Dead Remake: 15 Talking Points In The New Red Band Trailer

3. Hail To The... Prince?

As mentioned above, in the Evil Dead remake, there is no Ash. Sacrilege you say? Well you might be right. But then, when you think about it, doesn€™t this strike you as a smart decision? Who could live up to Bruce Campbell as Ash? Who, I ask you?! For the origina Evil Dead, Campbell gave one of the greatest cult performances of all time and he€™s still cherished worldwide as a result. But he can€™t very well play late teens/ early twenties these days can he? Basically, wouldn€™t you rather Ash be completely removed from the picture than some new guy failing awkwardly to capture the Campbell magic? That said, Ash does seem to be there in spirit although renamed as €˜David€™ (played by Shiloh Fernandez), and can be seen above laying into a fresh body with chainsaw €“ a scene straight out of the originals and complete with the buckets-o-blood that one has come to expect from a Raimi picture. We've seen his chainsaw; all we need now is the boomstick. Sure, we€™re down one Hollywood B-movie icon, but if I know Raimi, he€™s got something up his sleeve for this new €˜Ash€™ that is yet to be revealed.
