11. The Classic Raimi Monster POV
Next on the agenda is the shot that made each and every Raimi fan in the audience cheer at the screen. The
classic Raimi technique. The monster POV. He wasnt the first to pioneer the technique sure, but he was the first to use it in such a terrifying, disorienting way. Essentially what youre looking at is a camera speeding through a forest, sped up in post-production. Its
simple enough, but then again, the very best ideas normally are. There isnt really much difference between the monster POV in the remake and the original. I mean, you cant really go much better than perfect can you? As I mentioned earlier, the tone seems to have shifted to have more of an emphasis on horror than comedy. Thats fine, it
is a reimagining after all. Im just glad to see the remake paying due homage to that which its reimagining. Again, with Raimi and Campbell directly involved, expect no less.
