Exact Reasons These 10 Sequels Were Never Made

9. The Missing Magic - Ferris Bueller 2

Given how popular Ferris Bueller continues to be as a character (even when his good name has been dragged through the mud of advertising campaigns), you would have thought we might see more of the character on the big screen. After all, there are few cinematic questions as compelling as how the notorious slacker turned out.

The idea of a follow-up was entertained by John Hughes and star Matthew Broderick and would have followed Bueller "in college or at his first job." Unfortunately for anyone hoping to see more of his story, the pair failed to find the right hook and realised that the movie is too tied to a specific moment, according to Broderick:

"Ferris Bueller is about the week before you leave school, it's about the end of school—in some way, it doesn't have a sequel. It's a little moment and it's a lightning flash in your life. I mean, you could try to repeat it in college or something but it's a time that you don't keep. So that's partly why I think we couldn't think of another."

Maybe the cancellation isn't too bad a thing.
