Exact Reasons These 10 Sequels Were Never Made

2. Brexit Killed Mrs Brown's Boys: D'Movie 2

Mrs Brown's Boys

Back in 2014, the world was "treated" to a big screen delicacy from improbably successful British comedy sensation Mrs Brown. She's basically the creation of comedian Brendan O'Carroll, who dresses up as an outrageous old lady and says whatever she wants, while sometimes breaking the fourth wall and generally positioning herself as the UK's Madea. Yep, that bad.

Somehow, the movie went on to become the third highest grossing British or Irish film of 2014 domestically and O'Carroll announced a sequel was on the way. But by 2016 it had been put on ice, because Brexit had rendered the whole thing too expensive:

"We were planning to do it this year but the numbers weren't right. The Brexit Drop in sterling makes it a lot more expensive for the studio than it would have been previously."

There are still plans, but for now it's stuck in development hell. Shame, that. Said nobody in the entire world.
