2. It Occasionally Takes Itself Too Seriously
You might be a little baffled by a claim that suggests a thriller film takes itself too seriously, but this isn't just any old type of thriller: It's a classic action thriller of old, the likes of which we once saw Arnold Schwarzenegger or Sylvester Stallone light up the screen during. And while we'll talk about those similarities a little bit later, the one thing that separates Extraction from those is its incessant desire to be far too serious.
While that works for the vast majority of the film, there are moments that could have done with some levity. Unfortunately, at no point in time is Hemsworth given the chance to pause and crank out an epic one-liner to lighten the mood like The Terminator or John Wick might.
Again, it's fine for most of the film, but if Extraction really wanted to be a serious movie, then it should have had a little more of the following entry...
