Fantastic Beasts 2 Ending And Twist EXPLAINED

8. Queenie Defected

The romance between Jacob and Queenie could well have gone stale very quickly and had no reason to continue into the Fantastic Beasts sequels, but to Rowling's credit she used Queenie's disillusionment with the Wizarding World's intolerance of relationships with Muggles as the fertile ground to plant the seed of her radicalisation.

In a surprising move, Queenie fell for Grindelwald's seductive manifesto of freedom (assuming his policy on autonomy would over-rule his policy on Muggle-slaying, presumably in her blinkered idealism) and stepped into his inner circle. And while Credence is a greater weapon in his arsenal, Queenie is also a very, very useful to him because of her powers.

Even right at the end of the movie, we got a glimpse of that value when she told Grindelwald what Credence was feeling and how best to approach him. Fundamentally, Queenie is very dangerous because she can tell her new master everything his enemies are thinking. No plans can evade her, no intentions, no secrets at all, in fact. And information is arguably even more powerful against powerful enemies than magic.

She was just as key an asset to Grindelwald as Credence.
