Fantastic Beasts 2: Everything You Need To Know
8. Young(er) Dumbledore Will Be In It…
Since the Fantastic Beasts franchise is building to a confrontation between a certain Hogwarts headmaster and his former friend (or lover, as many believe), J.K. Rowling needs to find an actor to play Dumbledore opposite Johnny Depp's Grindelwald. She told E! News last year, "I do have someone in mind, but I can't say it."
The fan favourite choice is Jared Harris, son of the original Albus actor Richard Harris (who starred in The Philosopher's Stone and The Chamber Of Secrets before passing away). Jared, who played Moriarty in Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows, certainly has the look.
He somehow manages to be both the spitting image of his father and a dead ringer for a young Michael Gambon (who of course replaced his dad in the role).
"I haven’t heard anything and I don’t expect to", Jared Harris told Standard Online when quizzed about his involvement in the movie. But because Rowling and Warner Bros will definitely need a Dumbledore, there's every chance that he'll receive a phone call in the near future whether he's expecting it or not.
