Up until the first teaser late last year, there was some major uncertainty over how much Fantastic Beasts would lean into Harry Potter iconography. Turns out a lot - the classic theme makes a return here and the film's logo uses a similar font and style.

Biggest of all though are the text cards in the trailer, stating "J.K. Rowling invites you to explore a new era of the Wizarding World", pushing the series creator (who is also writing the screenplay) connection while also extended the recent branding push for the wider Harry Potter universe. It's hardly surprising, but tells us a lot about the wider approach with Fantastic Beasts - it's not meant to be standalone.
