Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald - 17 WTF Moments

3. Leta Dies...For No Reason At All

So, after introducing Leta at the start of the movie and revealing her grim backstory shortly before the final battle, it apparently made perfect sense to kill her off out of nowhere during the final battle.

Grindelwald tries to convince her to join his side, but she responds by attempting to kill him, resulting in Grindelwald effortlessly incinerating her with his blue flames.

It's clearly supposed to be an affecting moment of self-sacrifice to leave the audience barely holding back tears, but it feels incredibly forced, cliched and ultimately completely unnecessary.

Perhaps had Leta been given strong character development or we'd had another movie's worth of time with her, it might've worked, but as is it fell totally flat.
