Nicolas Flamel makes his Wizarding World debut in this movie, showing up for a glorified cameo where he provides a Paris safehouse for the heroes and later joins them on their quest to repel Grindelwald.

To the casual fan he might just seem like a random, creepy old alchemist, but Flamel is of course a key component of Potter book lore.

Flamel is a friend of Dumbledore's who was initially referenced in the very first book as the creator of the Philosopher's Stone, which renders him immortal despite his crusty appearance.

In addition to Flamel's cinematic coming-out party, fans might also notice the briefest of glimpses of the Philosopher's Stone itself, glowing bright and red when Flamel opens his safe.
