8. Professor McGonagall

Though a younger version of Professor McGonagall (Fiona Glascott) does indeed appear in the movie, she's given a surprisingly restrained treatment, confined to the periphery and kept far away from any overt fan service.

However, it's a bit of an eyebrow-raising cameo if you think about it critically for a moment, because Minerva McGonagall wasn't born until 1935 despite her scenes obviously taking place many years before that.

Whether this was a slip-up on Rowling's part or not, the easy hand-waive explanation is that the woman featured here is in fact Prof. McGonagall's mother.

That does require fans to ignore its clear contradiction of previous information about McGonagall's mother, namely that she's not a professor, though. Tsk tsk, J.K.
