10. Childhood Friends

The first trailer for Fantastic Four offered up a glimpse of what appeared to be the young Reed Richards and Ben Grimm together, so it seems as if the movie will at least touch on their childhood friendship. In the classic Marvel Universe, these two didn't meet until college, so Josh Trank's reboot has clearly turned to the Ultimate comics for inspiration. There, they were friends in school despite their very different intellects. Ben actually protected Reed from the kids who bullied him, and in return, the future Mr. Fantastic did his best and only friend's maths homework. It's hard to imagine the movie spending too much time in this period other than to establish Reed's very early scientific endeavours and to cement the bond between these two characters. Whether or not the movie will also cover their college years or will skip beyond them remains to be seen.
