Fantastic Four: 10 Moments From The Comics It Will Feature

9. A Very Different Baxter Building

A lot of the action in Fantastic Four will seemingly take place in the Baxter Building, but rather than being just a base for the team as it was when Stan Lee and Jack Kirby introduced it, it seems as if it will instead be a government run facility. That again is exactly like the Ultimate Comics where the iconic location was transformed into a think tank housing intelligent youngsters who could serve their country through their inventions. Reed being taken there resulted in him crossing paths with Johnny Storm, Sue Storm, and the man who would later become known as Doctor Doom, Victor Van Damme (Victor Domashev in this movie). Why Ben Grimm is there isn't clear, but if he's in one of the containment suits spotted in the trailer, he's obviously more than just an invited guest. Like the Ultimate comics, Franklin Storm will be in charge of this "Baxter Institute". While the movie was being shot in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, a building was spotted with that name, lending further weight to the theory that fans will indeed see this iconic comic book location portrayed as a government facility of some sort in the reboot.
