Fantastic Four: 17 Easter Eggs, In-Jokes And References You Need To See

15. "Earth To Richards" References The Original Origin

The biggest change to the Fantastic Four's cinematic status quo made in the new film is the altered origin story - instead of getting bombarded by space rays, they're attacked by some sort of green goo from the Negative Zone. Based on the Ultimates version, it's pretty much necessary in a post-space age world where we know solar flares can't really mutate you into rock beasts. The original origin does get a little nod early on though - Dan Castellaneta's teacher brings child Reed out of his trance by saying "Earth to Richards", referencing the series' space-set genesis.
